Levi Strauss & Company is giving itself a major makeover at the nation's outlet malls, and ISC Contracting has a lead role in orchestrating the changes.
Over a six-week period, ISC is completing interior and exterior renovations on 25 Levi outlet stores in 25 cities across the country. The $2 million project is a result of Levi's $72 million acquistion of 73 Levi and Dockers outlet stores that had formerly been licensed to Anchor Blue Retail Group. Completed July 13, 2009, the acquisition turns the outlets into company-operated stores. "This isn't typical construction work," said Tom Stotts, the ISC project manager who manages ISC'S work for Levi's. "These are all 'overnight remodels.' That means the stores remain open through the construction process, and we perform our work overnight while the store is closed. As morning approaches, we must make the store ready to open the next day." ISC is one of four contractors nationally who have been selected to perform the renovations. With 25 stores to renovate, ISC has been awarded the largest share of the work, said Biddlecome. This latest contract follows on the heels of a just-completed assignment that gave ISC three weeks to renovate nine Levi's stores in nine cities. "To complete these jobs on our aggressive timetables, it takes a special kind of contractor that we can rely on to work through issues quickly," explained Nick Biddlecome, director of construction for San Francisco based Levi's. ISC completed its first project for Levi Strauss in 2007 in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. The company's most high profile work for Levi's to date was the flagship store in the heart of Times Square, a 6,500 square-foot store at the corner of 44th Street and Broadway that opened in May 2008. "On retail projects like these, time truly is money," said Dan Green, President of ISC Contracting. "You can't allow anything to keep you from finishing and getting that store open." |
